Seit über einem Jahr läuft das Projekt „Miteinander in Marokko – Mit-i-Ma“ von der Gladbeckerin und meiner Freundin Lis Hühnerbach. In Deutschland ausrangierte Gehhilfen, Rollatoren, Rollstühle, Krankenhausbetten werden per Schiff nach Marrakesch in Marokko transportiert, dort durch arbeitslose junge Menschen unter Anleitung repariert und an bedürftige Menschen kostenlos weitergegeben. So konnte inzwischen vielen Menschen geholfen werden. Gleichzeitig haben junge Menschen eine Beschäftigung und Fluchtursachen wird vorgebeugt. Lis Hühnerbach hat dort dafür eine Werkstatt angemietet. Wohlfahrtsverbände und Privatpersonen haben bisher diese Hilfsmittel gespendet, die in einer Großraumgarage in Gladbeck gesammelt wurden.
Die renommierte Jürgen Wahn Stiftung in Soest hat die Trägerschaft übernommen. Die Stiftung fördert schon seit Jahrzehnten weltweit spendenbasierte Hilfsprojekte. Für ein Jahr hat das Projekt Landesmittel erhalten und konnte erfolgreich durchgeführt werden. Die Landesmittel sind inzwischen ausgelaufen und wir sind auf Spenden angewiesen. Denn, die Situation für die Menschen in Marokko ist durch die Pandemie noch schwieriger geworden. Seien es die Menschen mit Behinderungen, seien es die Beschäftigten beim Projekt, sie alle sind zurzeit auf die Unterstützung besonders angewiesen.
Ich wäre Ihnen/Euch für Spenden sehr dankbar. Genauso, wenn die Info an weitere Menschen weitergeleitet würde, die das Projekt eventuell unterstützen würden. The project "Mit-i-Ma" (Together in Morocco) was initiated by my friend Lis Huehnerbach and it is running very successfully for more than a year now. Walking sticks, crutches, wheel chairs, hospital beds and other aids that are unused, unwanted or damaged are collected by social services and private social initiatives in the area around Gladbeck/Germany. These items, which would otherwise end up in landfill throughout Germany, are collected and sent to Morocco via ship and then per lorry to Marrakesh. In Marrakesh a team of local unemployed young people repair those items, under supervision by an trainer, and then pass them on, without charge, to those citizens in need.
That way, many people received items that have massively improved their daily lives. At the same time, the local team repairing the donated aids is provided with jobs that enable them to support their families. All works are carried out at the local repair shop that Lis Huehnerbach rented.
The renowned Juergen-Wahn-Stiftung in Soest, supporting charitable, donation dependent aid projects throughout the world, is the trustee for the "Miteinander in Marokko" project. In the first year, funds from the Regional Government in NRW had been applied for successfully, but this seed fund has dried up so the team now depend fully on donations. Especially now, during the global Covid-19 pandemic, the life in Morocco, a country very dependent on foreign tourism, has deteriorated during border closures and lockdown. Not only our staff working for the project, but also those in need of medical help, require our support and assistance right now.
I thank you very much for your donations, and also for forwarding this fundraiser to people who might be willing to contribute financially to this important project. The Juergen-Wahn-Stiftung is providing receipts for any donations for German tax payers to claim against their tax liability provided you provide your address.
