Jorge's ROAD TO HEALTH

This fundraiser is to support Jorge on the ROAD TO RECOVERY from one of the RAREST and most aggressive CANCERS.

In May 2019, my dear husband Jorge  was diagnosed with stage IV Thymic Squamous Cell Carcinoma
( https://www.cancer.gov/types/thymoma ). He found out while he was conducting cooperation, education and research projects in media literacy in Ecuador. He immediately returned to Los Angeles, California in order to receive the best available medical care. The tumor was 15cm in size and it was located around the heart and main vessels. This made impossible to operate on Jorge following the standard treatments. Therefore, he received 4 cycles, 15 infusions in total of chemotherapy until October 2019. Thanks to that treatment it was possible to reduce the tumor in size a few centimeters for the first months but still inoperable.

From December 2019 till March 2020 he continued with PD-1 immunotherapy, but the tumor started to grow again. The treatment was not successful. It was at this moment that oncologists informed Jorge that he might have 6 months to 2 years of life left. He was informed that chemotherapy may be used to extend his life but it was yet to be proven due to the lack of studies in that rare cancer. Radiotherapy was also offered as a temporary solution to avoid problems such as the appearance of Vena Cava syndrome (stroke). However, the radiotherapy could not stop potential metastasis and/or potential recurrence.

At that point, Jorge CHOSE TO LOOK FOR HOPE. This is the reason why we are here asking for your support.

LATEST NEWS

Over the last few weeks; hope is starting to show up. Thanks to Jorge’s and his oncologist's research skills they found an integrative treatment on research papers. Jorge is currently being treated with a medicine in the family of Octreotide. Which is related with somatostatin, a hormone that was detected through a PET scan that  the tumor had sensibility to. The tumor depends on that hormone for its growth. The doctor informed Jorge that he has a 30-40% chance of success and that in a few months it could be verified if Octreotide treatment would work or not. We hope this medicine could reduce its growth or even possibly make it disappear completely.

In order to increase his chances of survival, Jorge is also exploring holistic and alternative forms of medicine that are not covered by insurance. In addition to having fasted for 7 and 14 days periods, which helped to slow the growth of the tumor from March to May 2020, Jorge is currently on a Keto diet and daily intermittent fasts.

Jorge has also started integrative treatments that focused on strengthening his immune system, (naturally and with comprehensive medicine, natural supplements and vitamins, prayer and meditation, regular exercise, nutritional programs, etc).

Healing cancer takes time, persistence, energy, prayer, meditation, organization, focus, doctors, hospitals, medicine, insurance and most definitely SUPPORT.  We are launching this campaign to support Jorge’s healing in order to receive comprehensive treatments and supplements that would help him dawn this difficult road of recovery. He is also contemplating multiple intravenous vitamins (IV nutrients), GcMAF immunotherapy, hyperthermia, blood oxygenation, photodynamic, etc. This will serve to strengthen his immune system and seek to reactivate his genes and the DNA proteins silenced by cancer; so all health practices integrated will help to beat the disease through attacking the different hallmarks of the cancer. We are pledging to carry him through to remission and happy ending.

After a year of hard conventional treatment, Jorge has used up the last of his savings. His parents have helped a lot during these hard times, sending money from Spain to pay a trustworthy caregiver during the chemotherapy months and continue to helps to the best of their ability.

Hola a todos.

Esta recaudación de fondos es para apoyar a Jorge en el CAMINO de la RECUPERACION de uno de los CÁNCERES  más raros y agresivos.

En mayo de 2019,  mi querido esposo Jorge  fue diagnosticado con carcinoma de células escamosas tímicas en fase IV, (para mas información sobre esta enfermedad podéis visitar: https://www.cancer.gov/types/thymoma), mientras realizaba un proyectos de cooperación, educación e investigación en alfabetización mediática en Ecuador. Inmediatamente regresó a Los Ángeles, California, para recibir la mejor atención médica disponible. El tumor tenía 15cm y estaba alrededor del corazón y los vasos principales, por lo que no podía ser operable de acuerdo a los tratamientos estándar. Por lo tanto, recibió 4 ciclos, 15 infusiones en total de quimioterapia hasta octubre de 2019 y gracias a ese tratamiento fue posible reducir el tumor unos pocos centímetros los primeros meses, pero aún inoperable.

Desde diciembre de 2019 hasta marzo de 2020 continuó con la inmunoterapia PD-1 solamente, pero el tumor comenzó a crecer de nuevo, el tratamiento no tuvo éxito. Fue entonces cuando los oncólogos le informaron a Jorge que podría tener de 6 meses a 2 años de vida aproximadamente, que la quimioterapia podría ser usada sólo para extender su vida y que ni siquiera estaba comprobado, debido a la falta de estudios en ese raro cáncer.  También le ofrecieron radioterapia como solución temporal, entendiendo que podía ayudar a evitar problemas como el síndrome de la Vena Cava (apoplejía), pero que la radioterapia por sí misma no podía evitar una posible metástasis o una posible recurrencia.

En ese punto, Jorge ELIGIÓ BUSCAR ESPERANZA y esta es la razón por la que estamos aquí pidiendo su apoyo.

ÚLTIMAS NOTICIAS

Durante las últimas semanas, la esperanza está empezando a aparecer. Gracias a las habilidades de investigación de Jorge y su oncólogo encontraron un tratamiento integral en los informes de investigación. Actualmente, Jorge está siendo tratado con un medicamento de la familia de la Octreótido, el cual está relacionado con la somatostatina, una hormona que fue detectada, a través de una tomografía computarizada, y  a la cual el tumor tiene sensibilidad, y depende de esa hormona para su crecimiento. El médico le informó que tiene una probabilidad de éxito del 30% al 40% y que en pocos meses se podría verificar si el tratamiento con Octreótido funciona o no. Esperamos que esta medicina pueda reducir el tamaño del tumor o incluso que poco a poco, con suerte, desaparezca por completo.

Paralelamente y con el fin de aumentar sus posibilidades, Jorge también está explorando formas de medicina holística y alternativa que no están cubiertas por el seguro. Jorge está empezando a seguir una dieta Keto y ayunos diarios intermitentes, además de haber ayunado ya períodos de 7 y 14 días, lo que ayudó a frenar el crecimiento del tumor de marzo a mayo de 2020.

También comenzó tratamientos integrales enfocados en fortalecer su sistema inmunológico, (naturalmente y con medicina integral, suplementos naturales y vitaminas, oración y meditación, ejercicio regular, programas nutricionales, etc.).

La curación del cáncer requiere tiempo, energía, persistencia, oración, meditación, organización, enfoque, doctores, hospitales, medicina, seguros y definitivamente  APOYO. Lanzamos esta campaña para apoyar la curación de Jorge, para que pueda recibir tratamientos y suplementos integrales, cubrir sus gastos extras  y necesidades diarias, y para mantenerle un estilo de vida libre de estrés tanto como sea posible. Sus padres ayudaron mucho en estos tiempos difíciles enviando dinero desde España para pagar a un cuidador de confianza durante los meses de quimioterapia y lo han estado ayudando lo mejor que han podido durante los últimos meses.
