Unshackled Do not let your past define your future

Hello and thank you for taking the time to visit my GoFundMe page. My name is Tyrone Brown and I am currently employed as a machine operator in the Peoria, Illinois area.  While this employment supplies me with a living it is not my life’s passion or what I feel God has called me to do.To help you understand that calling let me first share a little about my background.

I have had a relationship with God since I was young and have had several people in my life who have been strong Christian influences. However, around 2015 I got layed off from my job and the relationship with my fiance unexpectedly ended.  I allowed the stresses and temptations of life to overcome me and I made some bad choices. I began to dabble in drugs and the dabbling led to full blown drug addiction and a participation in all of the things associated with feeding that addiction. In 2018, the downward slide in my life bottomed out in an arrest and conviction for drug possession and dealing. My new home was a cell in the Peoria County Jail and I was left with time to think about the choices that led me to that place, the people I had harmed, and the relationship with God that I had left behind. It was there that God began to speak to me about the direction he had planned for my life.  I got involved with a program called Jobs Partnership which is a Bible Based Job readiness program. God used the mentors in that program and the relationships I built with my fellow participants to turn my life around.  Upon release from the jail I continued my involvement in the Jobs Partnership program as a mentor for others coming out of incarceration.  My life has changed dramatically.  I am three years sober, I am employed, I have married the love of my life and I am currently saving to buy a home.

Along with giving me a new chance at life, God has also planted a desire in me to minister to others in a more meaningful way. I created this page to help fulfill a God-given calling to a ministry of encouraging, advising and mentoring men and women, leading them back to the road of success with a God-first mentality and spirit. There is the potential to fulfill this calling through a full time position with Jobs Partnership but there is a problem…

What literally holds me back is a mistake I made  years ago in Douglas County, Georgia. To this day I have an outstanding 20 year warrant for a violation of probation on a shoplifting charge which prevents me entrance to the Illinois State and Federal penal institutions. The funds requested (which are needed by the end of June 2020) would cover out-of-state lawyer fees, restitution and court costs associated with cleaning up my record in this regard.  With your support, this would enable me to reach my full potential with Jobs Partnership Peoria as it pertains to the Re-Entry Program and day to day operations as an instructor in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
