Unsafe Living: Help Me and My Cat Get Money For New Home

Hello. I am here to raise enough for a down payment so I can find a safe, livable home.

As I look for a better job to cover me financially, I'm willing to set a goal of $5000, so I can get enough for a first month's rent altogether with a down payment.

At the end of November 2024, I moved into a room in the current job's Annex because of promises of no rent and a full-time job at an adult residential facility. I thought this was my dream come true! My goal was to get a full-time job and an affordable place to live. This is when I realized that the place hasn't been improving.

My reports of rats, roaches and structural damage are ignored by the manager. I've waited since Christmas when the issues are brought up, but no resolve. The rats would gnaw through plastic to eat the snacks that have been given to the residents living there. I have to tightly wrap my food in containers for the sake of my own health.

The bathroom tub was broken and its tiles were painted over. They did fix the bathtub, but they only painted over it. The paint is peeling off from the bathtub and it has plumbing issues. Me and another coworker reported the plumbing issues that causes the walls to bloat and leak, but it wasn't resolved. The problem lasted even before I moved in because the wrinkles are still there.

A resident can harm me for enforcing the rules. Recently, a client at the dorm office reacted violently after I told him about the 2 cups of coffee limit. He screamed and cussed me out then came back to punch the glass barrier and shattering it. I have to move out of the way or else I would get cut. I locked the bathroom door and called 911. He wasn't arrested and returned back to the facility one day later.

This makes me feel unsafe. Because of this, and if he knows which dormroom I live in, he can retaliate against me and/or my cat!

I pray to God that I would find a safer, livable place to live ASAP while I'm trying to find another job. Once I get the down payment earlier, it will help me and my fur baby move sooner.

Edit 1/28/2025: I cannot be specific with my past job. Due to wrongful termination and enviction, I have to remove some stuff out to avoid trouble. Sorry for the inconvenience.
