Unrequited Fear- Senior Thesis Film

This year I will be directing my senior thesis film, Unrequited Fear. I am so excited to share this story and work with a fantastic group of filmmakers.

What is Unrequited Fear about?

A young monster, Tomb Manson, tries to become the next big monster in an upcoming city. The only problem with his plan is that he can’t seem to scare anybody. After countless failed attempts, Tomb finds himself in a rut until he finds a support group that helps pull him out of it. In this horror comedy, we will see Tomb’s journey unfold.

Meet the Team!

Director/Writer- Mackensie McDonough

Mackensie McDonough is a Senior at Western Carolina and is in the Film and Television program. During her time at Western, she has worked on many projects and has had the opportunity to try out different leadership roles on set. This will be her first time directing a short film. As she continues her film career at Western, she plans to explore her interest in Directing and Cinematography further.

Cinematographer- Emma Brownlee

Emma Brownlee is a Senior at Western Carolina, majoring in Film/TV Production & English. Her passion lies in working with a camera and editing in post-production. She’s a huge fan of drama/horror/sci-fy movies! She loves working with her peers to make some beautiful & fun films while trying to have a positive mindset along the way!

Camera Operator- Drew Stader

Drew Stader has won many acclaimed awards such as best editing, audience choice, the second-best picture at the Asheville 48-Hour Film Festival, and best picture for his cinematography work at the Controlled Chaos Film Festival.

First Assistant Director- Nick McCluskey

Nick McCluskey is a film and television production major at western carolina university. He is a senior with plans on making impactful and memorable films once he graduates in 2023. This year has been his best year yet as he has connected with a broad spectrum of talented individuals outside the program. He will continue to produce films no matter where he is.
