Unrecognized Arab Villages in the Negev

There are over 40 Bedouin villages in the Negev with 350,000 residents. Since they are unrecognized they are not protected by Iron Dome, don’t have warning sirens, and are not protected by bomb shelters. Hamas rockets have done great damage to many of the villages in the last few days.

Immediate needs: Food, water, first aid kits & training, emergency housing

The Negev Bedouin live in the southern Negev desert region of Israel. They are the most disadvantaged community in the country, facing many challenges such as poverty, unemployment, lack of education, health problems, and land disputes. According to a report by the State Comptroller, the Negev Bedouin have the lowest per capita income, the highest unemployment and poverty rates, and the worst educational outcomes among all sectors in Israel. They also suffer from a lack of infrastructures and quality services, especially in the unrecognized villages that are not connected to water, electricity, or sewage systems.

During Hamas’ missile attacks beginning the morning of October 7, 2023 many Bedouin villages were struck by missiles. They are defenseless, lack bomb shelters, and are not protected by Iron Dome batteries. During the attacks, many residents rushed to help rescue people lost their lives. Many of the Bedouin are trackers in the IDF and are now serving. Their current situation is dire - most are unemployed due to the war, and they need supplies of basic necessities - water, food, and first aid.
