Unni Pillai

Tragically, Unni Pillai passed away in India on Thursday 16th November 2023.

He died from a heart attack following the discovery of some blockages via an Angiogram he had had a few days before.

A wonderful ceremony has already taken place where Unni was cremated in the family garden, at home. As per custom, his ashes were buried 6 days later and a coconut tree, turmeric plant and a colococia were planted, followed by an idli breakfast for extended family and friends in Paravur.

In Kerala, on the 16th day after the death, they have a ceremony, almost like a wake/send-off. Here, there will be a ceremony and then a big meal. The meal will be attended by all his family and friends. This day could be attended by about 2000 people. This ceremony and meal will take place on 2nd December.

Unni is survived by his wife Shantha and his children, Kannan and Nidhi.

If like many of us, you are at a loss of what to do or how to help, especially with them all being so far away, we thought a collective gift for the family as they move onto the next stage of their lives without Unni would go at least some way to showing them they are all in our thoughts and how much we love them.

Unni was loved by all who were fortunate to know him and touched many people's lives with his natural ability to connect with almost anyone, from any walk of life, so please give what you can but give with joy and positivity.

This money is a symbol of our love and support and will be given as a collective total from his global family as a gift.
