Help Send the UNMS 8th Grade Class to Philly!

Hello everyone!
We are 8th graders from University Neighborhood Middle School (UNMS), a small public school located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, in New York City. Our class is about to graduate and we are ready to celebrate our hard work over these past three years!
For our senior trip, our class is planning an overnight trip to Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love. There our middle school experience will culminate with the Constitution Walking Tour and an exploration one of America’s oldest and most historic cities.
However, we are classified as a ‘Title I’ school. This means that the vast majority of students at UNMS receive free or reduced lunch. Many of the families in our community do not have the means to support our senior trip, and unfortunately we are no longer supported by grants that supported us in the past.
A trip like this is a perfect mix of academics and fun. Not only is the trip experience related to what we have learned in class, we also build community and get time to explore a new city, which many of us have rarely experienced!
Our trip costs approximately $260 per student, which will cover bus, meals, and admission for trip destinations. For a group of 32-35, our trip will cost approximately $8500. After our fundraising efforts, we are still in need of approximately $3,000, which will provide scholarships for students to attend and help cover the costs of museum entries.
Our trip is planned for June 14, so we have less than 1 month to raise this amount.
Would you please consider donating to celebrate the work of our middle school years? Thank you for your consideration!
Sincerely,
The UNMS 8th Grade Class
