Every year, the Fraternity and Sorority Community at the University of New Mexico selects one philanthropic organization to benefit from the funds raised throughout Greek Week. Using the four pillars of our community - scholarship, friendship, leadership, and service - as a guide, the Greek Week committee conducts interviews with multiple organizations to determine which organization is the best fit for the year. For 2020, the community will be raising funds for Special Olympics of New Mexico.
Special Olympics has become the largest global public health organization dedicated to serving people with intellectual disabilities. Despite a mistaken belief that people with intellectual disabilities receive the same or better healthcare than those without, they typically receive substandard or no health care at all. New Mexico Special Olympics will receive our monetary donation.
