This week, Somerville Mayor Jake Wilson eliminated 29 public service positions and immediately laid off 13 of our coworkers. Fired staff include people working to advance racial justice, support Somerville youth, and finance professionals who ensure we spend taxpayer dollars responsibly.

We are Somerville Workers United, the organizers seeking to represent over 200 public employees in the City of Somerville, MA. We are city planners, public health workers, social and immigrant justice professionals, and other city staff who work every day to serve this City. We are fighting to keep these positions and will keep everyone updated via our Instagram @ SomervilleWorkersUnited .

We're raising these funds to support our fired colleagues and their families as they navigate this difficult time. Funds will go directly to them to help with food, utilities, housing, and childcare costs at this moment in time where everyone's costs are rising. We are grateful for anything you can provide, and will keep fighting for all of our rights to serve the city we love.
