University scholarship for Martins Faustino

Dear all, my former intern at UNFPA, a dedicated, motivated and dear young Angolan demographer, has received the opportunity of a lifetime. A full scholarship for his Masters degree at a renowned demography program in Brazil. However, travel and living costs are not covered. I am starting this GoFundMe seeking support for Martins, so that he can go achieve his dream, and bring back much needed knowledge and expertise to his country: Angola.

Martins will keep an updated email list throughout his full two-year program sharing incites and achievements during the program, and beyond.

From Martins:

I am Martins Hossi César Faustino, born on the 16th of October 1994 in the south of Angola, in the Province of Huíla municipality of Chibia. I currently live in Luanda, in the municipality of Cacuaco, Paraíso neighborhood with my mother who is a street vendor and 6 more sisters, I am the first child and fatherless.

I am the first in my family to complete a university degree and the first student from the southern region of Angola comprising the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Cunene, Huíla and Namibe, to have graduated in Geodemography – Option demography by Agostinho Neto University – Faculty of Social Sciences.

In 2022, I was approved and accepted at the Federal University of Minas Gerais – Faculty of Economic Sciences of the Center for Development and Planning (CEDEPLAR) in the Graduate Program in Demography. It is an incredible opportunity, and I am so honored to receive this highly competitive scholarship. On the other hand, I am unable to bear the expenses required to accept this scholarship and embark on this journey. Namely airfare, accommodation, food and transport in Brazil during the 2 years of training, which starts on March 6, 2023.

Studies at this University for the Graduate Program in Demography will open doors for my success in my professional career, being an institution that promotes a philosophy that perfectly fits my profile as a student which I will be able to carry out my life project in the future, which is to be a great specialist in demography and population studies, in order to actively contribute to the development of my country. Thank you.
