Jeff and Dani Kardisco joyfully welcomed their second son Judah on September 30, 2022. What should have been a happy time of bonding and thanksgiving quickly turned terrifying as the events of a life threatening diagnosis unfolded. In Dani’s own words, here is the story of Baby Judah:
“When Judah was born there were some concerns that were found by the neonatologist. We scheduled follow ups with several specialists and had been living the sweet newborn life as a family of four.
At a urology appointment, the doctor ordered some blood work that we had drawn. Thank God for this urologist for ordering a set of labs he that weren’t routine. He very well may have saved Judah’s life.
That night, we received an alarming phone call from said Dr urging us to call 911 and be taken to Boston Children’s. Judah’s sodium was extremely low and at risk for seizures.
Judah is in kidney failure, being treated with blood transfusions, dialysis, and an eventual transplant. He has been living at Bostons Children’s Hospital ever since.
Any donations given will be used for gas, parking, hotels, food, medical bills, childcare for Ivyn, or other things that come up regarding care for Judah.”
Update: It is likely that Judah will be able to go home soon!!! Dani and Jeff have been trained on at-home dialysis and will continue to treat him there until he can receive a kidney transplant. There is a LOT awaiting them, but they are thankful for the opportunity to have both of their boys in the same place soon.
We are so grateful for any support.
