Judah was born on September 30, 2022. Unknown to everyone Judah had a genetic disease called Denys-Drash Syndrome which causes kidney failure.
At 12 days old, it was discovered through blood work that he was extremely sick and by the grace of God was still alive. With the help of Boston Children’s Hospital’s renal and NICU teams, Judah was stabilized and began peritoneal dialysis. After a few months in the hospital he was able to come on dialysis which he’s received every night in his short 17 month life.
When he was 10 months old he had both kidneys removed as his genetic condition causes pediatric kidney cancer.
On March 14, 2024, Judah will receive a kidney transplant from a selfless living donor!!
Judah will be inpatient around two weeks, but then will need to be seen in Boston by the transplant team twice a week for 8 weeks and then weekly for the foreseeable future. He will be on immunosuppression for the life of his kidney.
This life is expensive and causes much missed work for parents, Dani and Jeff. Eventually, hopefully 15-20 years from now, Judah will need another transplant.
