The Francisco Aguirre Story:
Francisco is a beloved leader in the immigrant rights and labor movements, a dedicated musician, husband, and father, and a dedicated and inspiring leader who serves as minister of the weekly Spanish service at Augustana Lutheran Church in Portland, Oregon.

Francisco has been a vital part of the Portland community for over two decades, founding the Portland-based non-profit organizations VIVA Inclusive Migrant Network and Voz Workers' Rights Education Project. Francisco serves as Executive Director of VIVA, which supports the migrant and worker communities of Oregon. He has also been an integral part of the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, where he serves as the president of the Board of Directors. Francisco has been involved in the fight for immigrant and worker rights since 1995, soon after he arrived in Portland.

Unfortunately, Francisco is currently facing deportation proceedings with a hearing scheduled for December 2025 in Portland. Deportation to El Salvador would be incredibly dangerous for him, as it was for his son Moises who was tragically murdered after fleeing back to El Salvador due to ICE-ERO Enforcement Removal Operation harassment.
