Hello, my name is Laura Velez, and I am fundraising for an exciting, educational opportunity happening this summer! I am an Exercise Science and Dance major at UNC Charlotte and one of my career goals is to dance professionally. At nineteen years old, I moved away from my family and home in Puerto Rico to pursue my artistic career, and have unfortunately been meet with many financial struggles.

This year, I was selected by the United We Dance company to participate in a 2-week dance program in London where we will be working to retell the classic tale of Black Beauty through contemporary ballet. Now at 20, I have been blessed to receive this program offer after a year and a half of ardous work, and while I have high hopes that I will be dancing in London by June, I cannot do it without the help and support of my community.
