Hello Everyone,
My name is Danitza Pesantes. My sister, Vanesa Vanegas, who many people know as "La Caribeña," was in a car accident. She was a lively, energetic person who loved to dance and be present for her children. On November 5, 2022, that all changed. She was on her way home when the car she was a passenger in was part of a car accident.
When she woke up at the hospital, she was told that she underwent surgery for a complex posterior scalp laceration and also underwent emergent laminectomies along with spinal cord decompressions. In a blink of an eye, her life changed. She woke up not being able to move her legs and was told she was paralyzed from the waist down. We were told that she would need constant home care and several therapies from now on to get adjusted to what would be her new life.
Now being at home, the medical bills started to come in and unfortunately, not everything is covered by her insurance. The last thing I want is for my family to be drowning in medical bills. This is why I decided to ask for help. Anything would be appreciated as we could use your support.
As you already can see, she has upcoming procedures and therapies still ahead of her. Due to this accident, she can no longer work, and therefore has no income coming in. Her husband is taking care of her at home since they can't afford 24-hour home care, which means lost work time and medical debt accumulating. I have also taken time off work to help with home care but also have to be present for my children. It's been overwhelming for everyone.
Vanessa has one child in college and one in junior high school. This accident has taken a toll on the whole family and I don't want what has happened to her to affect the children more than it already has.
If you can help, it would be a blessing to the family. If you can't help financially then please share with your friends and family who may be able to help.
Thank you and God bless!
