One week ago, my mom was in a terrible accident and was hit head-on.

Upon seeing my mother in the trauma bay, the only thing I could pray over her was, “Thank you, God; thank you, God,” over and over again, and it is becoming the theme of her recovery story.

Thank you, God, for the miracle of being able to recover from the broken bones instead of being gone from this world.

Thank you, God, for the connections we are making with the amazing staff at the hospital who are realizing that Mom is a “young 63” who was incredibly active before the accident. They are working hard to get her to a point where she can start doing therapy to become mobile once again!

Thank you, God, for friends and family coming by to lift our spirits. This last week has taught me I am so incredibly blessed. I am rich in the best way, and that is with friends.

Thank you, God, for sparing the life of the young girl who was in the other car, who fell asleep at the wheel on her way into her last week of high school. This girl and my mom have now developed a bit of a friendship as she keeps checking in to see how Mom’s recovery is going. We hold her no ill will and recognize the call God has over her life.

Thank you, God, that my mother got to pray with that girl in the hospital, to bring her mental peace and comfort during a rough situation. The police told us that if my mother had not stopped the girl’s car with her own, she would have flipped into the ravine, and perhaps a different, more tragic story would be told here today.

Thank you, God, that Your story written over my mom’s life and this girl’s life is not over! There are miracles yet to come, and when they do, we will continue with gratitude! Thank you, God!!
