Hi, I'm Jamal, Mustafa's cousin. We've been adventure buddies since childhood, sharing memories of carefree days filled with laughter and pranks, chasing each others with water balloons down the streets. As I reminisce about our playful escapades, I can't help but feel a sense of helplessness seeing him face such immense challenges. I'm doing everything I can to support him, which is why I'm sharing his story with you. This is his message.

My name is Mustafa, and my journey stands as a testament to the unwavering strength and resilience amidst the chaos of wars. Just six months ago, I stood with pride as I received my Master's degree in Human Resources, a milestone achieved in the face of countless hardships.

Born in 1989, I was raised in the tumultuous heart of Gaza, where uncertainty and conflict became our constant companions. Despite the adversities, I pursued my education with relentless determination, eventually earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.

In 2017, I embraced Abir as my partner, bound not only by love but by the shared struggles we endured. Seven years of unwavering commitment led us to marriage, yet our dreams of a peaceful future shattered as conflict escalated. With our sons Fuad, aged 5, and Youssef, just 2 years old, we traversed the treacherous terrain of war.

I toiled ceaselessly, managing a branch of "Delis," a renowned restaurant chain, amidst the turmoil of conflict. Despite my efforts to provide for my family, the looming threat of war grew ever closer. In October of 2023, tensions peaked, and we were forced to abandon our home, leaving behind all we held dear.

Our journey was fraught with displacement and uncertainty as we sought refuge, first with a friend of my father's, then among relatives in Khan Yunis. Yet, the specter of war pursued us relentlessly, compelling us to flee five times in search of safety.

Amidst the anguish and despair, tragedy struck when my son Fuad was diagnosed with viral hepatitis—a cruel reminder of life's fragility in the midst of conflict. Fuad's diagnosis led us to isolate him from the rest of the family to prevent further spread of the disease. However, despite our precautions, the virus found its way to me as well, hitting me harder than it did my son. Now, both Fuad and I are battling the illness, living in isolation from the rest of our family to minimize the risk of infection.

Despite the lack of proper medical care and nourishment, my spirit remains unbroken, fueled by an unwavering determination to persevere. I am a father—a symbol of resilience in the face of adversity—committed to rebuilding what war has torn asunder. Despite the scars etched upon our past by conflict, I remain resolute in my pursuit of a better future for my family—a future where peace and stability reign supreme.

كانت رحلتنا مليئة بالنزوح وعدم اليقين عندما بحثنا عن اللجوء، أولاً مع صديق والدي، ثم بين أقاربنا في خان يونس. ومع ذلك، ظل شبح الحرب يطاردنا بلا هوادة، مما اضطرنا إلى الفرار خمس مرات بحثًا عن الأمان.

وسط الألم واليأس، وقعت المأساة عندما تم تشخيص إصابة ابني فؤاد بالتهاب الكبد الفيروسي، وهو تذكير قاس بهشاشة الحياة في خضم الصراع. أدى تشخيص فؤاد إلى عزله عن بقية أفراد الأسرة لمنع انتشار المرض. ومع ذلك، وعلى الرغم من الاحتياطات التي اتخذناها، فقد وجد الفيروس طريقه إليّ أيضًا، وأصابني بقوة أكبر مما أصاب ابني. والآن، نكافح أنا وفؤاد مع المرض، ونعيش في عزلة عن بقية أفراد عائلتنا لتقليل خطر الإصابة بالعدوى.

وعلى الرغم من الافتقار إلى الرعاية الطبية والتغذية المناسبة، تظل روحي غير منكسرة، ويغذيها تصميم لا يتزعزع على المثابرة. أنا أب – رمز الصمود في مواجهة الشدائد – ملتزم بإعادة بناء ما مزقته الحرب. على الرغم من الندوب التي حفرها الصراع على ماضينا، إلا أنني لا أزال عازمًا على سعيي لتحقيق مستقبل أفضل لعائلتي - مستقبل يسود فيه السلام والاستقرار.
