Mr. John Horton, former Marine and now a federal employee at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center located in Battle Creek, Michigan, lives in Union City. His house was among those that were ground zero for the tornado that ripped through the area on Friday, March 6th, 2026.

While recovering in the hospital, the assessor determined that his house and all its contents are a total loss. While he has friends and family in the area that will support him with food and shelter in his time of need, the road to recovery and rebuilding will be a long one. This is to provide John the extra support that he needs to get through this ordeal.
