Never did she think this would happen

Nine days ago, Amanda Paoloni went in for a routine outpatient surgery that would unexpectedly change her life forever. She chose to do the surgery in Charlotte, to be near friends who would care for her following surgery while also entertaining her for the weekend. Following an otherwise successful robotic procedure, she was discharged as expected, but was immediately readmitted to the hospital due to a life threatening, extremely rare complication. After 7 days in ICU, she hoped to be leaving the hospital. However, her surgeons had to take her back to the OR several more times. Her body would experience more unbearable pain and trauma, on top of the next 4 operations she needed to fight the complications. In true Amanda fashion, she tried to show courage in the face of fear, facing the unknown of what this challenge would do to her life as a healthy woman. Amanda just got out of her 4th operation today, and it is going to be a really long, tough road to recovery. She is still bravely fighting sepsis and a full body infection. Her medical team has been working around the clock, not only save her life, but to hopefully give her kids a future. A future with their mom as she still sings in the audience during a performance, or cheers too loud on the sidelines, or makes Mac & cheese because that’s what they want on any random day. Her children - Spencer, 14, Luca 12, and Eli 8 are the air that she breathes and the light that illuminates her path through this darkness. They finally got to see their Mom after a week away from her, but the pain and required tubes prevented the hugs she inevitably wanted to keep going. This medical catastrophe has caused Amanda to dip into her already lean savings, causing her to worry more about the bills than the steep road to recovery. However, her selfless and giving nature has been such a treasure to so many of us, that I hope we can surround her with the same unwavering support she would show when we were facing tough times. Amanda showers everyone around her with color and joy I hope we can help her family weather this storm. These funds will help her pay the exorbitant costs of intensive medical care, along with home health needs upon discharge. Any contribution helps, and I know she will be so grateful.
