Logline: Upon discovering more of her mother’s past, a young girl begins to realize that her mother is a person of her own, experiencing life for the first time just like she is.

About the Project: The story follows Agnes, a young Polish girl who has been supported and encouraged by her mother Ania, to follow her dreams and try everything. Ania is a young Polish mother who, despite not having the best childhood, does everything she can to make sure that her daughter can pursue the opportunities that she was never able to. In this story, Agnes learns to see her mother not just as a mother, but for the person she was and still is. `

Artist’s Statement: Cześć! My name is Maya Gherman, and I am a senior at DePaul University studying Film/TV Editing. My mother has been an incredible inspiration to me my entire life and has always been my biggest cheerleader. Immigrating to America in her early childhood and being the oldest sibling, she had to put family above everything else. She was the caretaker of her siblings and didn’t have the opportunities to participate in clubs, sports, or extracurriculars. She made it a priority to make sure that her children got to experience all of these things. Alexandra Cotton helped bring this story to paper, and I am so excited to bring it to life on this production!

Director’s Experience: I am looking forward to the amazing opportunity to direct a story that is very meaningful to me. It has been amazing to work on so many different projects during my time at DePaul, and I look forward to my last one being a story about my amazing mother. This will be my first time directing, and I am excited to work alongside a talented cast and crew! I grew up in a Polish-speaking household surrounded by Polish culture so I am excited to share this story and work with Polish actresses!

Where is the Money Going?: The majority of our funds will go towards locations and transportation. We will need a rental van to transport film equipment, as well we will need to reimburse people gas money for carpools. Along with transportation, we plan to rent outside facilities to film in which we estimate at about $400.
