Since his early childhood, Fernando has been described as a loving, affectionate, resourceful, and intelligent child. Fernando learned to read, write in cursive, and even learned basic math all before first grade.

He quickly learned and adopted good manners, social skills, and empathy for others.

He was very playful and loved to play with his toys at home, as well as get together with his neighborhood friends to participate in sports and athletic activities, such as soccer, hide-and-seek, playground gymnastics, biking, rollerblading, and skateboarding.

He was a leader among his friends with strong convictions, and was brave and bold, always ready to stand up for others.

At the age of 8, Fernando suffered a devastating loss when his father passed away.
Fernando's father was a business owner, athlete, and a responsible, loving, and caring father who led by example and was the greatest role model for him in his childhood. He set very high standards that shaped Fernando’s life with a broad spectrum of values that included a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, and fitness. Love for the outdoors, entrepreneurship, manners, and good social skills were just a few of the many values he instilled in him.

Fernando loved his father like no other person; they were very close. Other children grew up wanting to be like a movie or comic book superhero, but for Fernando, there was no other superhero more inspiring than his father.

After his father passed away, Fernando moved to Irvine, CA with sister and his single mother, who became the sole provider for the family. They moved several times, creating a sense of instability. In his teen years, Fernando was a foodie who enjoyed reading, watching movies, sleeping, and attending the gym or working out from home. He was also a daring entry-level parkour athlete. Fernando always avoided the club scene, as he wasn’t interested in partying and excessive dating or relationships in his teen years. Fernando has always been very paternal and nurturing, and always desired to open a successful business so that when he found true love, got married, and had children, he would be able to provide stability for his family. This desire came from growing up without close family members other than his single mother and older sister, who he didn’t have much in common with due to their age difference. Not to mention, his sister was away most of the time, and his mother was always working.

In 2006, Fernando was living in Alpharetta, GA when he decided to attend Florida International University in Miami, where he reconnected with his Latino culture.

Fernando decided to visit his paternal family that he had left in his country of origin, El Salvador, and traveled to Central America. He stayed in San Salvador where he met the love of his life, Karla. Since then, they have been together for 14 years and happily married for 11 years.

In 2016, after extensive visits with infertility doctors, his wife Karla overcame infertility problems and they were able to have their little 5% chance miracle, named Kylie Sofia. She was a healthy, intelligent girl that turned their world around and fulfilled all their hearts’ desires. And in 2018, the hearts of Fernando and Karla became even more fulfilled when they had their second child, another healthy, intelligent baby girl named Avril Antonella.

These two little bundles of joy were much desired, planned, and very loved. Fernando and Karla made sure to provide their girls with a healthy and beautifully orchestrated childhood, and a promising future.

Fernando is now a business owner of his startup corporation, and in just a short span of time, the company had quickly grown to three client accounts and six employees.

Fernando attributes the initial growth of his business with a sense of heartfelt appreciation to his dear friend, mentor, and role model who believed in his potential and who provided financial assistance with the startup’s costs. Fernando will never forget the graciousness that was extended to him.

At that time, Fernando was focused on growing his business with plans to slowly transition from working in the field to fully managing his business. But life is unpredictable, and things don’t always go as planned. In September of 2020, Fernando, his wife, and his daughters had a setback caused by a house fire that forced them to relocate. In addition, one of his client accounts had postponed services due to the pandemic. Fernando and his family contracted covid and spent time recovering in isolation. Despite it all, Fernando came back on top, stronger and wiser than ever before, and firmly believed in using adversity to his advantage and personal growth.

Fernando is now facing unforeseen medical issues after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer on January 17, 2022. He is currently scheduled for thyroid surgery, also known as a thyroidectomy, at UCI Orange on April 19, 2022. At this time, your help will aid Fernando in taking time off from running his business while he recovers from surgery. Your kind donation will help Fernando and his family maintain a roof over their heads by not falling behind on rent, bills, and other essentials that could have a negative financial impact on his business, home, and financial stability while being unavailable to work due to surgery and the unforeseen circumstances.

Fernando’s line of work still requires him to be out in the field wearing body armor and a wide range of defensive tools, including firearms, to keep people and properties safe in potentially dangerous and hostile situations and environments. Your help will allow him to fully recover and come back strong to be able to fully perform and deliver during active work duties that sometimes require remarkable physical abilities. These physical abilities include, but are not limited to, the use of his voice to de-escalate situations by communicating loud and authoritative commands to suspects, communicating to big crowds (crowd control) in an emergency or fire situation, and communicating with dispatch. Fernando will need a minimum of two months of recovery time to fully heal from surgery before returning for active duty, and may need additional time depending on potential complications after the thyroidectomy surgery.

Fernando is currently 34 years old but looks like he’s in his mid-20s. He weighs 148 pounds and is healthy besides the thyroid cancer. He enjoys cooking, tracking his calories, attending the gym, living a healthy lifestyle, and hiking with his daughters and his wife. He loves teaching his daughters by way of example, and engaging with them in art activities, calligraphy, advanced language, science, and nature.

What Fernando enjoys the most is being a dad! He cherishes the company of his loving, beautiful daughters and wife. Fernando and Karla are expecting their third baby, and are currently in the first trimester of pregnancy. They hope to have a fourth child one day.

His short-term goal is to buy his spacious dream home so that his daughters and future children can live, play, and grow with stability. His main focus is to provide the best quality of life for his family and a great childhood for his daughters, while embracing each developmental stage of life. Every day, he enjoys the little moments and the goods things of life, focuses on his health, and prepares his kids for the life ahead.
