Unfairly Treated By An Insurance Company
Donation protected
Hello. My name is Rob. I am 46 years young and up until March 2018 I was living a healthy lifestyle, working as a painter and decorator on hi rise apartments and enjoying my independence, living life to the fullest.
In March 2018 I was rear ended by a 25 tonne semi trailer while stationary at a set of traffic lights obeying the law, minding my own business. I worked for 2 months and was then forced to quit working full time due to my lower back injuries.
At the time of the accident, I was also teaching martial arts to men women and children and unfortunately, that has taken a hit and I can barely afford to keep the club open. My injuries have also prevented me from returning to training and enjoying the lifestyle I had before the accident.
Since May 2018, I have been involved in a legal battle with the insurance company, who after accepting liability, were tardy in the way they handled my rehabilitation and have refused to help me retrain or study to enhance my opportunities of employment. I have been desperately trying to relaunch my brand of apparel, RAMMFIT ATHLEISURE, but as a result of no income, I cant even get that running so I can give myself some kind of income and support myself.
At one stage, I went three months without any rehabilitation as they were not convinced my injuries were from the accident which is totally ridiculous, then they woke up to themselves and approved more sessions. But I believe it was at this critical time of the rehabilitation stage that did the most damage.
Their tardiness and incompetence has taken its toll on both my physical well being and my mental health
The insurance company is dragging out the claim and playing hardball to make life difficult for me, which it is.
We recently had a compulsory conciliation conference at which the insurance company were not at all interested in settling the matter, by offering pittance as compensation, to simply test my mettle.
As a result, we now have to wait to have our matter heard in court, but that takes time, possibly up to 12 months.
They are doing their best to make me go away but I refuse to give in.
This battle for justice and compensation has been going on for over 18 months.
The accident has left me with not only life changing physical injuries, but also psychological injuries in the way of Chronic Adjustment Disorder as well as mild PTSD.
I would dearly love a hand to not only survive from week to week, as there are mounting living and medical expenses, but also help build my clothing label so that I can rely on myself and not handouts in the future
I have been building my clothing line since 2016 but this whole situation has left me unable to continue and as I see it, it is my only option to help myself and my family to survive in the future as I have no other qualifications or degree's
I refuse to let this situation defeat me, which is why I am asking for help. I refuse to give in and refuse to take a backward step when all these insurance companies want to do is see you go away and suffer the rest of your life.
I refuse to lay down. I am desperately trying to help myself and my family the only way I know how
This is not a cry for a hand out...
This is a genuine call for a hand up so that I can survive and battle on against an injustice
It can happen to anyone and it is happening everyday to everyday battlers like me and my family.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
