Mike's Memorial Bench

Hello all. Zach ( Mike’s son) here.

For those who do not know, He passed on October 21st 2020.
Because of Covid-19, we were unable to have a celebration of life for Mike (yet). We will keep everyone informed because it will happen.

So…

I was browsing the Minnesota State Fair Foundation website with him. He wanted to buy MORE State Fair clothes etc. like always. ^_^ ( I think he has every button from the last billion years. lol.) But I noticed something on the website. You can have custom bricks, benches, tables etc. At the time he pipe dreamed about having his name on a bench but they aren’t small donations. (If you’ve known him well enough you know he would have to sit at the bench and get his picture taken with it yearly. Then, he would probably beg me to print 30 copies to hand out to people like it was as big of a thing to them as it was to him. LOL)

Anyway, in the past he always said to me; when he dies that he wants me to sprinkle his ashes in the MN State Fair. If you went to the fair with him, you had to be prepared to be there for a minimum of 10 hours. (Can’t leave until the fireworks go off) And for sure more than one day! He taught me how to  navigate the entire fairgrounds. Everyone would eventually always ask me where something was while I was going with friends. Maps? We don’t need no stinkin’ maps! Haha.

He used to go in the Haunted house and just laugh at everything with a big smile. lolol. A bucket of rigs was mandatory. He almost got kicked out of the 4-H building because he had to cross the barrier to get his picture with the giant pumpkin yearly. He always had to go say hi to Giggles even though Gigs was swamped busy. One year he and his sister Marie both rode around the fair on those scooters because of their injuries. We loved meeting Aunt Jo and Ron at the Ballpark Café and then running into them again later on. I could go on forever..for real tho.

Mike volunteered for the MN State Fair foundation for many years. He loved the calendars and had to get one every year. He also worked for the Fair in the parking lots for one year. He had to make sure to tell people he worked 13 days* not 12. LOL

Any help would be very much appreciated and remembered!! He would be so happy to see all of this!!
