Unexpected Passing of Thomas V. Munno

Donation protected

It is with great sadness and a very, very, very heavy heart that I have to share the unexpected and very sudden and tragic passing of my father Thomas (Tom/Tommy) Vincent Munno on April 1st, 2021.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather (cousin, friend, and auto electrician), my father was well known with people in and out of the automotive industry and within his church community. He truly was a “social butterfly” knowing everyone from everywhere.

My father began working at the early age of 16 and ultimately worked up until the day he passed on. Being in the automotive industry his entire life, he learned the trade, taught others, and became one of the top mechanics in the industry. Some of his greatest accomplishments in life included being Society of Fleet Supervisors, Inc. “Member of The Year” 2012, being a Special Advisor to the Board of Education's Automotive Department of Bronx Community College, owning his own auto electrical business for over 30 years, watching his two children grow into respectable adults, and ultimately becoming a grandfather in May of 2020, something he always dreamt of becoming.

When he wasn’t working, which was a rare occurrence, he enjoyed and loved spending time with his family. Additionally, he loved going to baseball games with his family, skiing in Vermont with his children, and taking family vacations in the summer.

My father was the heart and soul of our family. He was the glue, our anchor, and our rock that held us together. Survived by his family, my father leaves behind his wife,  Karen, whom he was married to for 37 years and together with for 44 years, his daughter, Jackie, his son, Chris, and his baby grandson, Nico (along with his two Golden Retrievers Sophie and Emmie).

For those of you who know my father personally, you know that the four of us—my mother, my brother, myself, and my son (his only grandson) WERE his LIFE, his entire world. Not a day went by where he wouldn’t share how much pride he took in my brother, Chris, or in myself. Not a day went by where he didn’t show pictures of his grandson, Nico, to those around him and express his love and admiration for watching his grandson grow day to day. Not a day went by where he didn’t confess his love to his soulmate, my mother. Not a single day went by where we as a family ever questioned his love for us. My father lived and breathed for us every single day of his life.

His faith lead him to be a man of God; therefore, his ability to work through God was unmatched and truly amazing. He would give the shirt off of his back if you needed it, he would take the food off of his plate if you were hungry, he would selflessly give of himself, always, for those around him. If you needed a friend in your corner, my father was the person to call. A true man of God, he was the most forgiving, selfless, giving, kind, honest, loyal, hardworking, respectful, and loving man that anyone could have known. There isn’t a person that my father met that could say he wasn’t the best of the best.

After battling Covid-19 and winning the battle, he fought hard with impeding health complications due to the virus. Still, he got up for work every single day and came home from work late every single night. Although his passing was not coronavirus related, his passing is even more shocking, traumatic, tragic, and heartbreaking for us. Taken from earth on Holy Thursday, nothing lead up to the moment the Lord inevitably took him home.

Due to the circumstances regarding finances during this extremely untimely and unexpected moment of our lives (and the pandemic), we are stressing to cope with the finances surrounding burying my father.   With that said, we, living at home with him — his wife of many years and myself, a “solo” single mother with a new baby, depended on him for just about everything. Having one less stress to worry about, my family will be able to bury my brother and I’s father, Nico’s grandfather, and my mother’s husband, and give him the proper burial and beautiful memorial he deserves, while being able to center, shift, and make future plans for living. Proceeds will help while we adjust to this new phase of our lives. Therefore, we are hoping to raise as much money as we can within the next few days so we may proceed during this extremely earth shattering moment in our lives.

Any and all donations given will go to all funeral arrangements including but not limited to, funeral service, graveside burial, plot, etc. Any amount, no matter how large or small, will help us as a family to bury my father and memorialize him. No donation is too small.

Thank you, thank you, thank you so very much in advance.

I know that in similar times of need my father would be the first one to help and extend his loving arms for anyone and all of us.

God bless.
