Unexpected Loss: Herman's Final Gift

EDIT: Celebration of Herman’s life will be held April 13 2025 from 12-4pm at The Dom Polski Club located at 10 Coburn st. Lowell Ma.

My family has made the hardest decision we have ever had to make.

On Monday night, my dad, who you all know as Herman or Hank, was hit by a car and immediately suffered major brain damage. Over the next 5 days, we watched him decline as his brain continued to swell. He had gotten much worse as the days went on. He had extensive brain damage and would never be able to eat or breathe on his own again.

This afternoon, we stopped all life-sustaining measures for my father. He was an organ donor and was able to save 3 people, which in itself is a miracle for those people. While it is a tragedy for us, we knew he would not ever be okay if he couldn’t drink his beer, listen to his music, talk to his family, or do any of the things he loved so much. He made a decision to be an organ donor because his nature was helping people. We honored his wishes, but we are totally devastated. My family is still in need of prayers as we try to comprehend and heal through this unexpected tragedy. Thank you all for your support, messages, prayers, and everything along this journey.

We still need your prayers for strength to get through this. My parents were married for 46 years. My mom needs us right now.

I am making a GoFundMe because we were NOT at all prepared for this day to come. we now have unexpected medical bills. Car insurance. Gas. Food. Funeral expenses. Bills piling up without him. My mother does not work and she depends on him for her daily needs. He has 3 daughters and 3 granddaughters that depend on him daily. This loss is unimaginable for us. We are trying the best we can but I know we will fall without him or some immediate Financial support. Eventually we will stand strong again but not today.
