Unexpected Flooding

Hi, my name is Willie Perry. I am requesting donations because my home flooded unexpectedly due to heavy rains. My family and I lived in the home less than a year before the flood. My wife and children were in the home at the time of the flood. They did their best to soak up the water as it rapidly entered our home. The water entered through my back door flowing through the kitchen, the formal dining room, and the living room. The house is not in a flood zone, so we did not purchase flood insurance. We attempted to file a claim with our insurance, which was denied, stating that the damage was from flooding and groundwater.

Our home was the only home that flooded in our community. I spoke with the neighbors, who informed me that the home had flooded previously. This information was not disclosed at the time of purchase. I started to research the property's history and found an issue with an easement located directly behind my home. I found a contractor to begin repairs. As the contractor assessed the home, he found new mold and what appeared to be pre-existing mold in the home. The pre-existing mold was found in the kitchen cabinets and could be a result of the prior flooding of the home, which we were unaware of. The contractor has to replace the vinyl floor, carpet, walls/baseboards, and the kitchen cabinets. Our family cannot stay in our home until the mold is removed and treated.
