Unexpected ER Visit, Spine Issues & ACDF Surgery.

Hey y’all,
I’m Kevin. I’m 30 years old (about to be 31 on Aug 23) and I considered myself a relatively healthy guy up until this point in my life. I play sports and like to stay somewhat active in my day to day. At least, I used to until this year.

Around February I noticed pretty consistent elbow pain. I went to an orthopedic doc who stated that they thought it was just tendinitis. Fast forward to early July and I began having pretty debilitating shockwaves of pain that would radiate from my neck and back into both my arms and legs. I went to my primary doc but they couldn’t figure it out (they had suspicions that it could be neuro related or a pinched nerve somewhere). On July 28th I went to the ER because I thought I was having a stroke (my vision was blurry and I was seeing double, along with pain along my shoulder and neck area that was pretty severe). The ER doc ordered a catscan and they found a significantly herniated disc in my c4/c5 vertebrae area. They think the elbow pain and neck/spine issues are all connected. I was discharged and referred to Texas Spine and Orthopedic group with a follow up appointment on 8/15. The PA ordered an MRI and a follow up visit on 8/29 where we will discuss treatment (potential expensive injections, PT, chiropractic care and if all else fails potentially surgery). I’m making this gofundme to assist with any costs incurred with this treatment and any associated diagnostics (MRI) along with my ER bill as I have a high deductible plan (2500$) that won’t pay for anything until I meet the entire amount. Seeing as it’s close to my birthday I’m forgoing any celebrations and gifts in lieu of the medical care I need to hopefully start feeling better and getting my life back on track. I will be updating this fundraiser as I continue to seek treatment and any little bit helps me financially. My ER bill alone is 1250$ and the MRI Is estimated to be anywhere from 500$ or more according to blue shield of CA (my health insurance) since I haven’t met my deductible. Even sharing and boosting this site helps me tremendously. Thank you so much for reading this and thank you for assisting me in my process to getting healthy again.
