Hello! I will admit this is not something I’d ever think I would do, but here we are. Our cat, Goose, had an emergency vet visit two weeks ago because we thought he may have a urinary blockage, which for male cats can be life-threatening. The emergency vet checked him out and discharged him with no blockage. Happy news, at the time!

Fast forward to yesterday, Goose was showing similar symptoms as before, so we took him to his regular vet who recommended some additional testing and an ultrasound. They called a few hours later, informing us that there was a small bladder stone that they could see and they recommended emergency surgery to avoid a blockage. We decided to proceed with the life-saving surgery before things could get worse. This was a difficult decision because it was very expensive, but Goose is very important to us and due to his young age of 2, we felt surgery would be the best option.

We are so glad that we did proceed with surgery because the vet found 2 large bladder stones and 2 smaller ones that were actually lodged in the urethra and could have killed him had we not done this surgery. Goose is staying overnight at the vet to be monitored, and the bladder stones will be sent for testing to see what caused this and what the treatment options are, in addition to the rest-of-his-life prescription diet he will be on.

As you can imagine, this was extremely shocking, and we were not prepared for an expense like this at all. We are kindly asking for donations to help us with this unanticipated expense. We understand it is a lot to ask of people, but anything helps. Goose is one of three of our kitties, and we love him so, so much and are so happy that his life was saved today.

And yes… we already bought insurance for the future!
