I find myself in the undesirable position of calling on the kindness of you to assist my son, Lance Grabill, as he undergoes unexpected and immediate back surgery. The disc between his L4 and L5 vertebrae is herniated and has rendered him nearly unable to walk. His Left leg and foot are experiencing the onset of paralysis.
An ambulance trip to the ER on 4-16-18 lead to a follow up appointment with his family doctor on 4-18-18. Lance was instantly referred for x-rays where 10 minutes into the ride home he was called and referred for an immediate MRI of his lower back. The results of the MRI were received on 4-20-18 and he was referred to the neuro surgeon for evaluation. Lance met with the surgeon on 4-26 and is scheduled for surgery on 5-1-18.
At the age of 36, it's highly unusual to experience such a rapid onset of such major medical issues and my heart is deeply saddened. Lance is a family man and father to 3 young boys who admire and love him immensely. He's been working in the same field for almost 20 years and with his current company for 5 years.
Lance is fortunate to have medical insurance and many of the expenses will be covered. The challenge is with the immediacy for major surgery having already exhausted his family's financial resources, the impending loss of time from work and the fact that the expenses of daily life for the family are unavoidable.
There will undoubtedly be unforeseen copays and medications that will quickly add up. Not to mention any requisite medical equipment during his recovery. Normal household expenses for a family of 5 will continue as sure as the sun rises each day. Therefore, I felt the need to establish this request for assistance to help Lance and his family bridge the gap from immediate surgery to "normal life" once again.
It's with a humble heart that I ask you, and anyone you may know, to please assist my son and his family as they navigate these uncharted waters. With God's protection I'm certain Lance will progress through this malady and ultimately be once again 100% physically able. God's support can (and will) help his body heal. Your support can (and will) help his family during this tumultuous time.
Sincere blessings to you all,
Terry
