Unexpected delivery and NICU stay

Donation protected
On September 11th, 2023 I went to what I thought was going to be a routine doctors appointment. We ended up being admitted that night because it turns out I was actually preeclamptic. They were going to be inducing me a month early at 36 weeks. After two days in labor and on magnesium for my blood pressure Aubree was born on September 13th at 5:21am. The first hurdle we had with her was her blood sugar levels. She had a lot of trouble regulating them because of her prematurity but her little body finally got it figured out after some help from the fantastic staff in the Rowan Hospital nursery. While staying in the nursery there she started having random drops in her blood oxygen levels. When these events happen she does not seem to be in distress and if she wasn’t on a monitor you’d have no idea they were even occurring. They have done chest X-rays and blood work to try to figure out what’s going on and they showed nothing. Ultimately the decision was made to transfer her to the NICU at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem. It’s a hour away from us. We don’t have any idea at this point how long she is expected to be there or what exactly is wrong still. In order to be close to her we are going to be staying in a hotel close to the hospital until we know more or can take her home. Obviously on top of me having to stop working early and not reaching my savings goal for maternity leave this is a big expense. I didn’t take the decision to start this page lightly and hate asking for help but I’m not sure what else to do. All we want to focus on is making sure our baby is healthy and if some of the financial burden was lifted it would also help lift some of the stress in this whole situation. We thank any and everyone who chooses to help.
