As many of you know, my brother Ian J. Guralski passed away unexpectedly on January 28th, 2019. Autopsy results showed Ian was suffering from endocarditis of the tricuspid valve. For a couple weeks, Ian thought he simply had the flu. Unfortunately, on Monday January 28th, 2019 Ian left his house to stop at a gas station and that is where he ended up taking his last breath.
I started my Monday like any other, at work. I get a call from my Father Ron Guralski telling me that Ian had collapsed and was getting taken to the ER at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. I hurried what I was doing at work and planned to get to the ER to make sure I was there for my brother, but shortly before I was able to leave work I found out my brother was already gone.
As we stood over his lifeless body contemplating what happened to him, we had to come back to reality and figure out what to do next. My Mother Brenda Reich told my Father Ron how she had life insurance policies out on all 3 of their children and each child would receive $10,000 in life insurance. The next day, we planned the funeral. Ian wished to be cremated and we had a memorial in his honor.
The funeral, although sad, turned out to be very rewarding. Our families are large and the funeral brought so many of us back together. Ian made a horrible day a happy day by bringing us all back.
After the funeral we were forced to go back to reality while still coping, trying to figure out what to do with all of Ian's belongings while trying to live our own lives, and we find out some terrible news. The life insurance policies that my Mother was paying on all 3 of her children were only good until we were 26 years old. This means that the $10,000 my Mother thought she had to fall back on in this unfortunate situation was no longer there.
Ian recently started a new job before he passed away. He was working at From The Forest LLC. Since his job was so new, he wasn't eligible for benefits until February 1st, 2019. He passed away on January 28th, 2019 and would have been eligible for a $15,000 life insurance policy starting February 1st, 2019. Due to the unexpected death, Ian was unable to leave us with any life insurance to take care of him the way he deserved. Although my Mother thought she had her child covered to have the memorial he deserved, she was blind sided when she found out that ended 10 years prior, even though she had been contributing to it this entire time.
I now ask of my friends, family, and acquaintances if there is anything you can do to help out my parents. This loss was hard enough on all of us. I can't imagine the way my parents are feeling right now losing their first born son, my brother. Any penny that can be spared to help them would mean the world to me. Even if you do not have anything to contribute, I thank you for taking the time to read this. We are forever grateful. We love you.
