Merry Christmas everyone,
I’m Pratibha, and I never expected to be sharing something like this.
I’m writing this while I’m still in the ER. On Christmas Day, while heading to a friend’s home for dinner, I was involved in a sudden car accident and among other things the major part is that I sustained multiple fractures in my ankle. I was brought to the emergency room, where I’ve undergone multiple tests, sedation, a reduction procedure, casting, and imaging.
Doctors have told me the injury will not heal on its own, and I’m currently awaiting evaluation by an orthopedic surgeon to determine next steps, including likely surgery. I’ve been in the ER since yesterday afternoon and am still here early this morning on December 26, which has been overwhelming both physically and emotionally.
I’m facing a prolonged recovery period and will be non-weight-bearing on left foot for several weeks and full recovery is expected to take many months, making it very hard for me to do daily activities independently. I also lost my job last month, and with medical care ongoing, essential expenses are beginning to add up already — including housing, basic living costs, transportation and vehicle-related expenses from the accident, recovery costs, and the need for in-home help or caregiving support during recovery.
I’m asking for short-term support to start with to help me get through the next couple of months while I focus on healing and regaining mobility. Any help, sharing, or kind words mean more than I can express right now.
Thank you for your support during this very difficult and unexpected time.
I also want to express my deep gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, support staff, and everyone working in the ER — thank you for your dedication, sacrifice, and care every single day.
Merci Beaucoup!
Update: surgery was successfully done on 26th dec evening.
