Hi, my name Manav and I am Captain of the FIRST Robotics Team the EdBears 8850, I am raising money to be able to send our team of 22 equity deserving young people to the WORLD competition in Houston, Texas on May 5,6,7, 2026.
FROM THE UNDERSERVED SCARBOROUGH COMMUNITIES TO THE WORLD STAGE!! HELP OUR ROBOTICS TEAM COMPETE.
Our robotics team’s goal is to compete at the FIRST Robotics World Championship - the most prestigious youth robotics competition in the world.
This achievement is especially meaningful because our team is made up of underserved youth - students who face systemic barriers related to income, access to resources and opportunity. This will be the first time traveling outside their region, let alone competing on the global stage.
What the World Championship Means to our Team members
At the World Championship, our team will:
-Compete alongside teams from over 50 countries
-Present engineering solutions to real-world challenges
-Network with industry professionals and university recruiters
-Experience post-secondary and career pathways in STEM
-Represent their community on a global platform
For students who are often told-implicitly or explicitly - that opportunities like this “aren’t for them”, this moment is transformative.
Why We Need Help
While our students earn their place through skill, hard work, and perseverance, the cost of attending the World Championship is a major barrier. Our families simply cannot afford the travel, accommodations, and competition fees.
We are committed to ensuring that no team member is left behind due to financial circumstances.
Your support will directly fund:
-Competition registration
-Travel and accommodations
-Safe transport of our robot and equipment
-Meals, and local transportation for team members
-Access to this one-in-a-lifetime experience
HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
Every contribution-large or small-helps remove barriers and open. Doors.
-$25. Help cover meals for a team member
-$100. Supports robot and transportation and tools
-$250. Offsets competition and registration fees
-$500+ helps sponsor travel for a team member who otherwise could not attend.
We promise to:
-Use funds responsibly and transparently
-Share updates, photos, and competition results
-Celebrate our supporters as part of this journey
-Continue investing in STEM access for equity-deserving youth long after the competition
