Lieve vrienden!

Samen met 5 vrienden ben ik een melkcoöperatie in Tanzania aan het opzetten: Under The Tree Serengeti Project. Met Under The Tree willen wij armoede bestrijden in de Serengeti door lokale boeren te helpen hun melkproductie te professionaliseren. In dit gebied wonen veel boeren, die ieder veel koeien bezitten. De melk die deze koeien produceren moet echter meestal weggegooid worden omdat er geen goede pasteurisatie faciliteiten zijn. Zonde!

Daarom willen wij geld ophalen om een kleine melkfabriek te kunnen opzetten voor en door de lokale gemeenschap. Wij zullen samen met de lokale gemeenschap en de Nederlandse ambassade in Tanzania een coöperatie opzetten waar alle boeren mede-eigenaar van kunnen worden. Hierdoor worden alle winsten uit de coöperatie eerlijk verdeeld.

Daarnaast houden wij ons aan het ‘OnePlanet’ principe, en zullen wij het project uiteindelijk in harmonie met de natuur opschalen om zo steeds meer boeren in Tanzania - en uiteindelijk ook andere landen in Oost-Afrika - te helpen een duurzame economie op te bouwen. Zo hopen wij bij te dragen aan het behoud van deze streek vol natuurlijk pracht en praal; de Serengeti.

Samenvattend: Met jouw bijdrage help je duizenden mensen uit armoede, voorkom je hectoliters aan verspilling per dag, en garandeer je een duurzame toekomst voor een van de mooiste natuurgebieden van de wereld!

Met jullie donaties zullen wij de notaris kosten dekken om Stichting Under The Tree op te zetten, en zullen wij in Tanzania coöperatie Serengeti Dairy Coöp oprichten. Ook zullen wij onze lokale medewerkers van loon kunnen voorzien, apparatuur aan kunnen schaffen, en ons netwerk aan boeren en hoteleigenaren uit kunnen breiden.

Dear friends,

Together with 5 friends, I am setting up a dairy cooperative in Tanzania: the Under The Tree Serengeti Project. With Under The Tree, we aim to combat poverty in the Serengeti by helping local farmers professionalize their milk production so they can sell their milk to the nearby lodges and campsites in Serengeti national park. These tourist destinations make beautiful cappuccino's for their guests with milk bought from far away, sometimes even all the way from South Africa. Many farmers in the nearby region own numerous cows, but the milk they produce cannot be sold due to a lack of proper pasteurization facilities. What a waste! And how unsustainable!

That’s why we want to raise funds to establish a small dairy factory to establish a local milk supply chain, run by and for the local community. Together with the local community and the Dutch embassy in Tanzania, we will create a cooperative where all farmers can become co-owners. This ensures that all profits from the cooperative are distributed fairly.

In addition, we adhere to the ‘OnePlanet’ principle and aim to eventually scale up the project in harmony with nature. This will enable us to support more and more farmers in Tanzania—and ultimately in other East African countries—in building a sustainable economy. In doing so, we hope to contribute to preserving the natural beauty and richness of the Serengeti.

In summary: With your contribution, you will help lift thousands of people out of poverty, prevent the daily wastage of hundreds of liters of milk, and ensure a sustainable future for one of the most beautiful natural areas in the world!

With your donations, we will cover the notary costs to establish the Under The Tree Foundation and set up the Serengeti Dairy Coöp in Tanzania. Additionally, we will be able to pay our local employees, purchase equipment, and expand our network of farmers and hotel owners.
