Short Summary
Under New Management is a tense office drama following the relationship between an employee, Brady Dunn, and his manager, Lowry Duncan, at an economic advisory firm steeped in corporate malfeasance. As rumors of an imminent SEC invasion begin to spread around the office floor, Brady and Lowry’s relationship is strained as they race to destroy any evidence of wrongdoing before the firm’s Ponzi scheme is made public. Along the way, we’ll meet the other office personnel, a stern agent of the SEC, and investigate the values of corporate America – particularly on the significance of power vs. title.
Our team is composed of student filmmakers from ASU’s Sidney Poitier New American Film School. We can’t wait to produce this film as part of our senior capstone project! With your support, we’re able to fund all the different areas of production: production design, location costs, insurance, equipment, feeding our cast/crew on set, and more. What We Need & What You Get
Our goal for this project is $3,500: for a student film of this caliber, every dollar we raise has a massive impact on our production. Your generous donations will go toward the following areas:
- Locations: One of the most effective tools at our disposal in terms of our ability to tell this story is the location. To shoot in a real office space allows us the chance to immerse you in the story like nothing else.
- Production Design: In order to achieve beyond the particular modern office aesthetic, we need to dress our cubicles in a way that showcases the personalities of each of our characters in the cast. As you know, someone’s desk says a lot about them!
- Feeding Cast & Crew: Nobody likes to go to work on an empty stomach! With a cast and crew the size of ours, we need funds to ensure everybody is fed well and able to maintain their energy throughout the shooting days. It’s often understated just how important lunch is to building morale on set.
- Equipment and Insurance: As ASU SPNAFS students, we pride ourselves in running our sets like professionals: this means insuring everything on set we need to (like lenses, locations, etc.). Speaking of, we have a very particular vision to capture – the right equipment can help us to do just that!
- Marketing and Distribution: This is more than just a capstone project to us. It represents one of the largest-scale productions we’ve worked on and can show to other people in the industry post-graduation. Your contributions will help us pay the fees for film festival submissions and other marketing/distribution expenses.
- Post-Production Costs: Too often, the editor goes overlooked and underfunded. It’s our goal to make sure the film’s final cut is as tight and impressive as possible, and the post-production team needs some additional resources to make the magic happen!

For any donation of $100, you will receive access to our behind the scenes photography and videography, if you’d like to see all the work that goes into the making of our film. For any donation of $250, you will receive personalized, hand-written letters from the crew describing their sincerest gratitude and explaining exactly how your contribution has helped their department excel. And for any true angel investors out there: for $500 you will receive your own digital copy of the film and be credited as an Executive Producer of the film! With your specific donation tier, you will also be rewarded with every previous tier – but don’t feel obligated to donate these specific amounts: you can donate as much or as little in any amount you wish.
The Impact
The question on every young, politically active mind right now appears to be “have things always been this way?”. We’re living in a time where it seems increasingly common for leaders in the private and public sectors to embroil themselves in all sorts of illegal controversies. All the while, we’ve seen these same figures continue to expand their fortunes considerably – while the average American family has had to struggle in order to afford the basic standard of living. It’s important that we’re able to make a film that can criticize and question this trend; especially in a visual medium totally rooted in human connection.
Although of course, it is also our goal to provide you with an entertaining and gripping experience that keeps you on the edge of your seat for the film’s duration. We’ve put a lot of effort into creating the blueprint for a film that can take you for a thrilling ride while also asking you to consider some hard questions about wealth, power, and title.
