Emma's Trip To The United Nations
Donation protected
My name is Emma Palmer and I am currently a 17 year old high school senior with a passion for social justice and advocacy. I am a proud member of the Episcopal Church and attend Trinity in Tulsa Oklahoma, I have been selected as a delegate for the Episcopal church to attend the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women , at the UN headquarters in New York. I will be meeting with many incredible people from around the world, and be informed of practical ways to advance the state of women, both globally and locally. I am so excited and honored to have been chosen for this opportunity. Advocacy is something I’ve always been interested in, and this position is truly a step in the right direction.
At the United Nations Status on the Commission of Women annual meeting, I will be apart of the official Episcopal Delegation along with 19 other delegates. In addition to being one of only 3 teenagers on the delagation, I am the only delegate to represent my diocese of Oklahoma. During UNCSW, we will participate in official plenary meetings held at the UN headquarters, along with many parallel events put on by local nonprofit organizations. In addition, we will be able to hold "mission visits" with missions of many different countries. Finally, we participate in reviewing and revising the official Episcopal statement on the priority theme at UNCSW.

However, as Uncle Ben so famously said: “with great power comes great responsibility.” and a part of this trip is that I will be required to cover all of my expenses. Unfortunately, the amount of money required for a trip to New York for 14 days is not cheap. There’s travel fees, food, hotels, and worst of all TAXI’S! Additionally, due to my minor status, I also require a chaperone, and therefore, my wonderful mother will be accompanying me, which means I not only have to provide travel costs for me, but also my mother. In the end, all expenses add up to about 6,500dollars. All of this will need to be paid by me. And while I do a little babysitting here and there, and have tried in the past to run an etsy shop, by myself, I am nowhere near my goal and need your help!
If you would consider donating to this gofundme, I would be forever grateful! I know that there is no way on earth I can achieve this dream of mine to go to UNCSW without the contributions of normal, kindhearted people who believed in me enough to give. This event is monumental for me, and it means the world to me that people would give to this cause, be it a dollar, or a hundred dollars, every bit helps! In addition, even if you can’t afford to give, I encourage you to share this campaign through social media and get the word out.
Thank you for lending me your ear, and grace and peace be with you.
*UPDATE*
I have now added rewards levels to this campaign, if you donate at least $50, you will recieve a signed 7x5 print that reads "We are bigger than bigotry"
$100 will get you a rad custom black and white pen doodle on cardstock, just tell me what you have in mind, and you will recieve an 11x8 1/2 signed pen sketch.
Donate $300 and I will create a custom design for you, let me know the specifics of what your looking for, and I will work with you to achive the piece that you want. You will recieve both a digitally formatted version, along with the original design.
To give you an idea of what I have done in the past, here is some previous work done by me:

*ANOTHER UPDATE*
Good news all! I have just been given a matching grant from Trinity Episcopal Church. From now until Feb 29th for every dollar I receive from donors, I will be matched with a dollar from Trinity, up to a thousand dollars. If you haven't yet, please consider donating, every little bit puts me closer to my goal.
