Hi. My name is Murray McCourt. I am the General Manager/Executive Golf Professional at The Ranch Golf & Country Club in Edmonton Alberta. I am fundraising to help our Kitchen Manager at The Ranch...Howard Li.

 

Here is his situation:

 

"In 2016, my wife, and a mom of three, was diagnosed with breast cancer. With surgery and chemotherapy, it seemed that there was a hopeful path for recovery during the follow-up stages for two years until 2018 when it was found that cancer had spread to the spine and the lungs. From 2019 up until 2020, the treatments have been supported by the government but because my wife has undergone too many rounds of chemotherapy, the treatment costs are no longer eligible for government support."

 

Over the past year Howard has had to max out his credit cards and dip into his RRSP to cover the costs of his wifes medication. This has compromised his ability to provide for his wife and their three kids. Last year just under $30,000 was their out of pocket expense to cover the drugs she needs.  The costs of the drugs for the forseeable future ($8000 every three weeks) that she is taking has risen and his ability to pay for them is nearly impossible.
