Hello! We are the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's PATP MFA class of 2017 and we are campaigning for your assistance to help us get to and from our Showcase this Spring!
We have spent three years here at UNC Chapel Hill refining our skills and knowledge in the craft of acting, practicing in both film and theatre. After countless hours of being in rehearsal, breaking down scenes, learning lines for plays, grading papers, teaching classes, auditioning, etc., it is finally time for us to show the world what we've been working on and take our first steps into the industry.
'Showcase' is a chance for us to get in front of some of the industry's top directors, agents, and other industry professionals and perform a vignette of scenes that will display all of us in action!!!
It is customary for UNC to send their MFA class to New York, but this year we want to expand our professional possibilities and host a showcase in Los Angeles!!
Which is where you all come in!
We are responsible for all of our travel expenses, which means that we have to cover our travel from North Carolina to New York, then from New York to Los Angeles, then back to New York from Los Angeles, then back to North Carolina from New York...you get all that???
To simplify it, we have to raise funds for airfare, rental cars, and hotel stays to accommodate six people.
We are asking for $10,500. That adds up to $1,750 per person to cover their individual airfare and baggage fees between the three cities, their part of the car rental, and hotel expenses, along with a potential meal here and there.
Our travels begin on April 23rd/24th from North Carolina to New York. We will leave from New York and arrive in Los Angeles by Tuesday April 25th with events leading up to our showing on that Thursday the 27th. We will then leave Los Angeles for New York on April 29th to prepare for our showings on May 1st & 2nd in NYC. When we are done with possible meetings there we will then carousel back to North Carolina to walk the stage for graduation!
This is is an extremely exciting and scary time for us all as we prepare to embark on this voyage. We are working hard to put on events and fundraisers to help us achieve our goal and with your help we feel that we have a great chance at doing so. A dollar is helpful if it's all you can give, just know that whatever the amount may be, we are eternally grateful.
