Hey I'm Steve, I really appreciate you reading my story.
I was diagnosed with an autoimmune kidney disease called IGA Nephropathy 10 yrs ago. Oct 2012 I was approved to be on the kidney transplant list at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville.
I'm on disability and have Medicare and Medicaid share of cost, however Mayo Clinic requires $13K in reserves to move forward with surgery. This past Oct (2yr annual labs and Mayo visit) I was put on inactive status because of lack of funds. I'm still on the list but won't get 'that' call until I have at least $13000. I unfortunately don't have much money but I save a little each month. I'm the kind of person that would do without before asking for help. I believe this is definitely the right time in life to forget pride and make this happen. I want a healthy happy future. Kidney disease has really taken a toll on me physically and mentally. I'm tired all the time, and rarely feel good. I'm praying everyday and do keep a hopeful and positive outlook. My kidney function ranges from 9-15%, I'm luckily predialysis at the moment, the goal is to try to avoid dialysis before the transplant. I can pay for my travel, food, and lodging, I just need help with the 13k my medicare and medicaid will not cover. If there's a child or any person on dialysis needing help, please donate to them before me. I've witnessed my dad dying on dialysis and those folks come first. Thanks for reading and if you donate I want to thank you so very much. A friend recommended this site to me Christmas last year and I've finally realized I had to do something . I was told by my social worker at Mayo I would have to do some fundraising, so here it goes. God Bless, Steve
