Our Uncle Wa Neng is going through the fight of his life right now. For those unaware, on 2/3/2021, Uncle Wa Neng was showing symptoms of a stroke and was rushed to Aspirus Wausau Hospital to confirm he had suffered a stroke. Due to his unstable condition, he was emergently transferred to UW Health in Madison, WI. At UW Health, he underwent numerous tests to discover an underlying illness called Moyamoya disease, which may have triggered the stroke.
“Moyamoya disease is a chronic and progressive condition of the arteries in the brain. People with moyamoya disease have narrowing of these blood vessels that leads to blockages, which can eventually cause stroke and seizures.”
After discovering the Moyamoya, doctors were prepared to get him stable enough to be transferred back to Wausau for rehabilitation to prepare for cerebral bypass surgery for the Moyamoya . On night 2 at UW Health, things took a turn for the worse and he suffered another stroke that caused significant damage to the left hemisphere of his brain. This unwanted news has left us all devastated and wondering what road lies ahead. The future is very uncertain so we do not know the length of his recovery and what specialized care will be required. We are uncertain what deficits uncle Wa Neng will have upon recovery, but we know how strong he is and how hard he is fighting to come back home to be with his four young children and our aunt.
Times are extremely tough and due to Covid19 visiting restrictions, we cannot be with him physically to provide comfort and healing. As stressful as this is already, the financial stress is something we wish we didn’t have to worry about. Each day brings on new fears of what financial commitment may lie ahead. Our aunt has needed to take unpaid time off of work to be home with their four young children. Therefore, to lessen the financial burden, as a family, we are requesting monetary donations to help cover medical, travel, and living expenses for his immediate family as our uncle recovers from this life-changing medical event. We thank anyone who is able to help lessen our financial burden and to know that your generosity will not go unnoticed. Your donation will provide us a sense of relief brought on by this unfortunate situation.
From the bottom of our hearts, we humbly thank you for your love and support during our time of need.
