Our Uncle Tom is a true warrior.

In 2014, our dad’s brother, Tom Noldan, was diagnosed with hemochromatosis, a rare genetic disorder that ultimately led to the destruction of his liver. 

In 2018, Uncle Tom successfully underwent a liver transplant. After months of recovery, he was feeling stronger, but his breathing never seemed to get better. 

A diagnosis of Pulmonary Fibrosis answered questions but solidified a life on oxygen. With one granddaughter and another on the way, Uncle Tom was happy to be alive to see his grand-babies grow.

In 2020, life grew too complicated and Uncle Tom knew the oxygen would not suffice any longer. He, his wife and three kids were faced with a difficult decision. Either they had to accept that Uncle Tom had 12-18 months left to live, or they had risk the dangers of an incredibly complicated and daunting double lung transplant. At the young age of 63, our cousins refused to let their father die, and as a family, they decided to risk the transplant.

After less than 24 hours of being put on the transplant list, on March 31st,
2021 they found a match! 6 hours later, Uncle Tom had new lungs! 

Within a week, Uncle Tom was breathing on his own! 

He is a warrior through and through.  

For the last seven years, Uncle Tom and Aunt Donna have dug deep into their pockets, savings, and retirement to afford these lifesaving miracles. They moved from Naples to Jacksonville’s  Mayo Clinic to Richmond, Virginia to be near their grand babies, and most recently Durham, North Carolina’s Duke University Hospital. The financial costs and medical bills are incredibly overwhelming.

As a family, we are asking for any donation. Any funds generated will be used to alleviate the stress of some of the financial burdens Uncle Tom and Aunt Donna are experiencing. Right now is an incredibly critical time for Uncle Tom to focus on his recovery so he can hold his grand-babies he’s fought so hard for.
