Uncle Carlos Parkinson’s disease
Every single day I choose to dedicate and sacrifice to reach my full potential in this life. In the process of CHOOSING to show up every single day I have found how privileged I am.
I decided to sign up for the Moab 240, a 240 mile foot race, not only to find my new 100% but to honor my uncle Carlos. Carlos Muñoz is the most unselfish man I’ve ever met, he’s been a huge inspiration of mine and has always been a support of mine. He’s a father figure to me. In 2017 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and it has been developing faster than expected.
It’s been tough seeing my uncle lose his ability to move, speak, process his thoughts, communicate, and live his normal life. He’s a very smart man, a dad, a husband who was an athlete and a hell of a worker, and a family figure. As the disease has been progressing, he lost his job and his medicalinsurance. He has an amazing, TOUGH, and supporting wife and two very smart daughters in college. As a nephew and a cousin I will give what I have to help with his battles and help my family.
Moving forward, the next few months I will be training every single day not just for my race, but also help my uncle lose weight, live happy, and fight with him. My goal is to raise money (ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TOWARDS CARLOS MUÑOZ’S MEDICAL EXPENSES/PROCEDURES) and awareness to help fight Parkinson’s disease and to assist with some of the very expensive medical procedures. Since he lost his job a few months ago, he has been unable to attend therapies, receive prescriptions, missed surgeries, and hasn’t been able to get his required tests. I truly appreciate all love and support! I can assure one thing... we will fight!!! If you cannot donate or share, please remember, there’s no tomorrow.
