Unaccompanied minors around refuggee settlements in Uganda

Hi, my name is Merlo Jedidja and i am fundraising for unaccompanied minors in kyaka II refugee settlement, with a focus of providing access to school from their early ages, basic needs, psychological support and relevant support to help them lead a purposeful life.

In refugee settlements around Uganda there is rampart poverty, people surrounded by conflicts, school dropout, teenage pregnancies, child abuse and a lower life expectancy. These are basically caused by poor learning environment that result to a noisy world, unemployment, lack of guidance and mentoring services that result to ignorance.

The purpose of this fundraising, is to allow the success of numerous strategic implementations that VPeace put into consideration in ensuring safe learning environments, addressing their development barriers and trauma... In order to seeing these unaccompagnied minors become the solution to their problems and participating in making supportive policies for the upcoming generations.

A day in the life of Mupenzi-Sadiki:

Mupenzi Sadiki is a young child in the settlement of Kyaka II Refugee Settlement who arrived in Uganda around 2018.He came to Uganda fleeing political conflicts that claimed the lives of many including his parent in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He lived harsh conditions before meeting VPeace, which involved the collection of metal scraps, plastic bottles and living in unfinished houses. He ate once a day from the little money he could earn in metal scraps picking and selling plastic bottles.

He lacked clothes and basic need in addition to the lack of parental support. The community and everyone referred to him as Street Child.

But after meeting VPeace, Mupenzi now claim to feel safe and seeing his future assured.
