In 2019, my mother was suddenly hospitalized. We found out she had progressive lung disease. At around
the same time, my brother totaled his car. He had to get surgery. To top it off, my father, a lifelong
construction worker, was suddenly unable to walk. All of this happened at once. My father had to leave
his job and go on disability, as they tested him for multiple sclerosis and similar things. They
were unable to find anything conclusive except for disc problems, but they found a hernia and he too had to
have surgery. By the end of that summer, I was told our home was foreclosed.
We had to be out within three months. I didn't think life could get worse.
My dad is the hardest working person I know. He exerted himself in physical therapy while recovering from surgery and would walk miles to be able to function again and get us to our new house, despite being in excruciating pain.
I thought everything would get better after the move.
However, my brother's surgery led to the worst possible situation. I have had to call an ambulance to my home two times this year. He is in severe need of mental and physical help but he has no way of getting it. My dad's new insurance doesn't cover the cost of sending him somewhere that could help him. It would be at least 18,000 dollars. I do not expect to be able to afford this. My dad is trying
to get his old job's insurance back, a process which may take months. Everyone in the house works, yet thousands of dollars are
gone. We do not have money for food many nights, and the threat of eviction is constantly on our minds. Even worse, the fear of losing family members is constantly on my mind.
I decided to make this fundraiser because I love my family and I don't know what else to do to help. I spend all day researching, trying to find any resources or social services. The results I get are not helpful, in fact most of them state "start a fundraiser." I never wanted to have to do that, but the options are slim. I'm praying that this will help keep us afloat and make it easier to turn things around for the better.
Even a dollar would contribute towards allowing us to survive until we find a solution.
