Thank you for taking the time to visit my GoFundMe Page.
To celebrate what would have been my wonderful sister Una's 40th Year, I am embarking on an entire year of fundraising activities for Muscular Dystrophy, ranging from Marathons, Military Obstacle Courses to social events and anything inbetween.
Muscular Dystrophy is a cause very close to my heart. It is a neuromuscular, genetic disorder which results in the progressive deterioration of muscle strength and function. Muscular Dystrophy comes in many forms and has far reaching effects for those living with it and their families. Two different forms have impacted my family, Facioscapulohumeral and Myotonic dystrophy / Congenital myotonic dystrophy
Not only is this a condition that my sister Una lived with but also my mum and dad and other members of my family.
So......the year of fundraising fun kicks off with a fundraising 40th Birthday Party for Una on 12th October 2019 (which may, ok does include me having my head shaved and singing in front of people for the first time in 19 years - lord help me) and will continue for the entire year until her official birthday - 9th November 2020.
I will keep this site updated with my progress. However, if anybody has any other ideas for fundraising activities, please feel free to make a suggestion. :)
(Honestly I really have no self preservation and am happy to make a complete fool of myself as much as needed).
Money raised will support research to hopefully find a cure and for the provision of support for people living with MD and their families.
The main aim is to raise awareness of what is largely an unknown condition for those not affected but has a massive impact on those who are.
Any donation will help and is appreciated more than you know. Thank you for your time and contribution to a cause that means so much to me.
