Una speranza per Stefano ⭐
Ciao a tutti,
siamo Daniele e Alessia, i genitori di Stefano, un bimbo di quasi 2 anni affetto da una rara malattia genetica: la SMA di Tipo 1, la forma più grave.
L'Atrofia muscolare spinale è una malattia neuromuscolare degenerativa che colpisce tutti i muscoli del corpo.
Per questo motivo Stefano non cammina, non sta seduto, ha problemi respiratori e di deglutizione, infatti si alimenta tramite PEG.
Nonostante tutto è un bambino sorridente, intelligente, tenace e con moltissima voglia di vivere e combattere: un vero guerriero.
La sua qualità di vita potrebbe migliorare tramite la somministrazione del farmaco ZOLGENSMA, il quale fornisce una copia funzionante del gene difettoso (che comporta la malattia).
In Italia, al momento, è possibile somministrare questo farmaco ai bambini fino ai 6 mesi a differenza degli altri paesi europei il cui criterio per la sua somministrazione si basa sul peso corporeo (21 Kg). Stefano quindi è ESCLUSO, come tanti altri bambini!
Zolgensma è l'unica terapia genica attualmente esistente per questa malattia, e purtroppo anche la più cara: la singola somministrazione costa 2.100.000 dollari.
Abbiamo deciso, quindi, di aprire questa raccolta fondi: partire all'estero e far somministrare il farmaco a pagamento al nostro guerriero.

Hope for Stefano
Dear everyone,
we are Daniele and Alessia, Stefano’s parent, a nearly 2 years old child with a rare genetic disease: Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1, the most severe type.
Spinal muscular atrophy is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that affects all the muscles of the body. This is why Stefano cannot walk, cannot stay seated, has difficulties breathing and swallowing and must be fed through percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG).
Nevertheless he is a smiling, intelligent, and tenacious child, and with plenty of will to live and to fight: he truly is a fighter.
His quality of life could improve if he is administered the medication ZOLGENSMA, which provides a functioning copy of the defective gene causing the disease.
In Italy, at the moment, this medication can be administered only to children up to 6 months of age; contrary to other European countries where the criterion used to administer it is the body weight (21 kg). Hence Stefano, like many other children, remains EXCLUDED!
Zolgensma is the only genic therapy currently existing for this disease, and unfortunately also extremely expensive: administering a single medication costs 2.100.000 dollars.
That is why we resolved to launch this funding campaign: to go abroad and to pay for the administration of the medication to our fighter.
