¡Maritza no se rinde!

Hola, soy Yuriba Girón y con mis hermanos Pablo José y Victor Hugo, hemos creado esta campaña para pedirles ayuda en un momento muy difícil para mi familia.

Nuestra madre, Maritza Tovar de Girón, profesora venezolana jubilada de 80 años, quien dedicó más de 60 años de su vida a la educación en Venezuela, ha estado enfrentando graves problemas de salud.

La situación médica :

* En noviembre de 2024 le fue extirpado un quiste sinovial de 10 cm de largo en la pierna derecha, la herida no cicatrizó y permaneció abierta durante todo el año 2025.

* Además, en abril de ese año, sufrió un accidente cerebrovascular (ACV), produciéndole una discapacidad cognitiva (desorientación en el tiempo) y física (incontinencia urinaria), entre otras complicaciones.

⚕️ Cuidados y tratamientos

Desde entonces, nuestra mamá ha necesitado:

* Acompañamiento médico permanente

* Atención de enfermería las 24 horas.

* Fisioterapia y rehabilitación cognitiva.

* Equipos e insumos médicos especiales.

Actualización

En octubre de 2025, después de dos cirugías infructuosas para cerrar la herida, una biopsia de la misma, reportó la presencia de un angiosarcoma, un tumor maligno poco común de los vasos sanguíneos, por lo que una tercera cirugía mas radical fue necesaria para extraerlo, dejándole como complicación, dificultades para caminar debido a la lesión de un nervio.

Ultima actualización

A principios de este año, se logró finalmente el cierre total de la herida. Sin el apoyo y generosidad de todos los que nos han acompañado estos meses, profesionales, familiares y amigos, esto no hubiese sido posible.

Gracias a su generosidad, hemos logrado reunir alrededor del 42% de nuestro objetivo.

Sin embargo, aún necesitamos ayuda para cubrir los exámenes, tratamientos, materiales y cuidados que nuestra mamá requiere.

Ahora, se hace necesario realizar estudios de imágenes para descartar la diseminación del tumor, entre ellos, un PET-CT (tomografía por emisión de positrones).

¿Cómo puedes ayudar ?

Mis padres, ambos jubilados, no cuentan con los recursos económicos necesarios para afrontar los altos costos médicos.
Nosotros, sus hijos y nietos, hemos hecho todo lo posible durante estos meses, pero nuestras capacidades ya se han visto agotadas.

Cualquier donación, por pequeña que sea, hará una gran diferencia en la calidad de vida de mi mamá.

Maritza Doesn’t Give Up!

Hello, my name is Yuriba Girón, and together with my brothers Pablo José and Victor Hugo, we have created this campaign to ask for your help during a very difficult time for our family.

Our mother, Maritza Tovar de Girón, an 80-year-old retired Venezuelan teacher who dedicated more than 60 years of her life to education in Venezuela, has been facing serious health problems.

Her medical situation

* In November 2024, a 10 cm synovial cyst was removed from her right leg. The wound did not heal and remained open throughout 2025.

* In addition, in April of that same year, she suffered a stroke, which caused cognitive disability (temporal disorientation) and physical complications (urinary incontinence), among other issues.

⚕️ Care and treatments

Since then, our mother has needed .

* Continuous medical support,

* 24-hour nursing care

* Physiotherapy and cognitive rehabilitation

* Special medical equipment and supplies

Update

In October 2025, after two unsuccessful surgeries to close the wound, a biopsy revealed the presence of an angiosarcoma, a rare malignant tumor of the blood vessels. Because of this, a third and more radical surgery was required to remove it, leaving her with complications, including difficulty walking due to nerve damage.

Recent update

At the beginning of this year, the wound was finally able to close completely. Without the support and generosity of everyone who has accompanied us during these months—professionals, family members, and friends—this would not have been possible.

Thanks to your generosity, we have managed to raise about 42% of our goal.

However, we still need help to cover the tests, treatments, medical supplies, and care that our mother requires.

Now it is necessary to perform imaging studies to rule out the spread of the tumor, including a PET-CT scan (positron emission tomography).
