My name is Arnaldo Serrano Césares and I am a 60 year old Venezuelan. Those who know me can attest to my honesty, responsibility, commitment and love towards my family and friends, in addition to my dedication and hard work demonstrated in my 45 years of employment!
 
My doctors have given me a very unattractive life prognosis. It is encouraging to say that 360 days have passed since that time and I still have hopes of regaining my health. I am requiring heart surgery, but unfortunately, this type of open heart surgery is not available in the public sector of Venezuela, due to the economic, social, political and humanitarian crisis, especially in the health sector, where there is a lack of medicines and supplies.
 
A year ago my health began to deteriorate. I began to experience episodes of dizziness, loss of vision, fatigue, severe chest pain, shortness of breath and syncopes (fainting) that limited my daily activities and movements, reducing my quality of life and the quality of life of my family. I suffered what doctors call "sudden death", a fulminating heart attack that left me unconscious for half an hour. After the aforementioned event, I was evaluated by cardiologists and specialists. They performed a large number of exams, including a cardiovascular catheterization, electrocardiograms, an echocardiogram, an MRI. I thought that I had recovered without any idea of ​​the seriousness of this event. Days later I received the test results that indicated that I suffered from "severe stenosis of the aortic valve" with a significant hemodynamic impact. Simply explained, the aortic valve of my heart in charge of pumping blood and oxygen to the whole body is calcified, "which makes the heart poor and unable to make my body function effectively. The involvement of the aortic valve impacts strongly the normal flow of blood and oxygen that the heart sends through the Aorta to the rest of the body. It is important to keep in mind that the aortic valve does not regenerate and there is no treatment to correct it (only an intervention surgery) and should Keep in mind that the damage is progressive until it stops working properly and causes fatal consequences. Open heart surgery and aortic valve replacement are required to help treat this condition.
 
Given this reality, we only have the alternative of going to the private health system where the costs are very high. which amount to approximately $ 40,000 that will be used to cover the following costs:

 1.- Diagnostic catheterization. (Not included in the budget)

2.- Costs of surgery plus implements for surgery.

3.- Medical fees (additional not included in the budget)

4.- ATS aortic valve mod. AP. Additional cost of approximately $ 4,900.

5.- Medications and other postoperative expenses.

6.- Ambulances and transfers.

7.- Pre and postoperative.

8.- Intensive care of the ICU

 I have been working with faith, hope and optimism for a year, looking every day for the ways that will lead me to the solution of my problem, many angels, beings of light and friends, have been supporting me, and I just need to specify the economic aspect .  Mi nombre es Arnaldo Serrano Césares y soy un venezolano de 60 años. ¡Los que me conocen pueden dar fe de mi honestidad, responsabilidad, compromiso y amor hacia mi familia y amigos, además de mi dedicación y arduo trabajo demostrado en mis 45 años de empleo!

 Mis médicos me han dado un pronóstico de vida muy poco atractivo. Es alentador decir que han pasado 360 días desde ese momento y todavía tengo esperanzas de recuperar mi salud. Estoy requiriendo cirugía de corazón, pero desafortunadamente, este tipo de cirugía a corazón abierto no está disponible en el sector público de Venezuela, debido a la crisis económica, social, política y humanitaria, especialmente en el sector de la salud, donde hay una falta de medicamentos y suministros.

  Hace un año mi salud comenzó a deteriorarse. Comencé a experimentar episodios de mareos, pérdida de visión, fatiga, dolor toráxico intenso, falta de aliento y síncopes (desmayos) que limitaron mis actividades y movimientos diarios, reduciendo mi calidad de vida y la calidad de vida de mi familia. Sufrí lo que los médicos llaman "muerte súbita", un ataque cardíaco fulminante que me dejó inconsciente durante media hora. Después del evento antes mencionado, fui evaluado por cardiólogos y especialistas. Realizaron una gran cantidad de exámenes, incluyendo un cateterismo cardiovascular, electrocardiogramas, un ecocardiograma, una resonancia magnética. Pensé que me había recuperado sin ninguna idea de la seriedad de este evento. Días después recibí los resultados de la prueba que indicaban que sufría de "estenosis severa de la válvula aórtica" con un impacto hemodinámico significativo. Explicado simplemente, la válvula aórtica de mi corazón encargada de bombear sangre y oxígeno a todo el cuerpo está calcificada ", lo que hace que el corazón sea pobre e incapaz de hacer que mi cuerpo funcione de manera efectiva. La participación de la válvula aórtica impacta fuertemente el flujo normal de sangre y oxígeno que el corazón envía a través de la Aorta para el resto del cuerpo.
