Delia's medical fund

My name is Delia Wilson Lunsford. I am on Medicare which simply cannot take care of my needs at the moment. After managing my conditions throughout my 70 years, I now have too many conditions and not enough money. I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis a few months ago. This is a rare neuromuscular autoimmune disease. I experience daily fluctuating symptoms since my first major excacerbation In October. I don't know from day to day what I will be able to do - sometimes I can't read, sometimes I have difficulty walking.

 

I have lived with a rare genetic syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos (EDS) for my entire life. Having a connective tissue disorder like EDS gives rise to other conditions such as Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS-diagnosed a year ago), autonomic neuropathy, sleep apnea, osteoporosis, scoliosis, gastroparesis, colonic inertia and the resulting ostomy. I have had 18 surgeries with another upcoming. I have had a life of pain.

 

I've never asked for help before though both siblings have been kind enough to loan me money to cover 2 surgeries.

 

We have no vehicle that can transport a motorized wheelchair and Medicare won't pay for one until I am completely wheelchair bound. I will be buying a foldable powerchair which will make it possible for me to get out and about no matter how much muscle weakness I experience. I also need more genetic testing; again Medicare will not pay for that. The approximate cost for that is around a $1000.

 

My disabled husband needs hearing aids - possibly $4000.

 

And I'm starting renovation of my bathrooms to accomodate our disabled needs so I've set a total target amount of $10,000.

 

Deciding to do a fundraiser like this is possibly the hardest thing I've ever had to do but I can no longer put off expenses or just do without as I have over the years.
